The issue of insight after brain injury is far more complex than typically thought.  Insight is situational and often the brain injured person has great insight into the mistakes they make, after the fact.  But being able to anticipate those mistakes or make real time corrections is far more complicated.  A further complication is that a large percentage of TBI survivors have a tendency to obsess over dysfunction, greatly enhancing the long term impact of any one mistake.
