Some Kohler portable generators are being recalled due to a shock hazard. The generators reportedly have a wiring malfunction, which can pose a risk of electrical shock when an electrical device is plugged into the generator.
Kohler portable generator customers should stop using the product immediately and contact Kohler to set up a free repair by the closest authorized dealer.

About 7,000 products have been recalled, and about 230 were sold in Canada.
The generator models included on this recall are PRO3.7, PRO3.7E, PRO5.2, PRO5.2E, and GEN5.0 with Spec Number PA-GEN50-3003. They have black frame assemblies and blue fuel tanks. Certain kinds, including the PRO3.7, PRO5.2 and GEN5.0, have manual recoil start. The others have manual recoil and electric start.
The generators to be concerned about that are included in this recall are those with serial numbers of 4528733735 or lower, and a manufacture date prior to June 2016.
Model numbers, serial numbers, spec number and manufacturing date are on the silver label on the lower black frame assemblies of the generators.
Although no injuries were reported, it is still important to have your generators repaired by an authorized dealer.
The generators were sold at authorized Kohler distributors and dealers from June 2014 to May 2016 for $740 to $1,400.
Kohler Power Systems of Kohler, Wisconsin was the distributor, but the manufacturer was Sumec Machinery & Electric Co. Ltd., of China.
A friendly reminder to never use a generator indoors. It will cause carbon monoxide build up in the home or any enclosed space, such as a garage, basement, or crawl space. A generator was the cause of the carbon monoxide poisoning in Madison, WI. Even opening windows and trying to ventilate the area will not guarantee that carbon monoxide will not build up in the home.
