An Illinois youth who suffered traumatic brain injury after being struck by a truck nearly a year ago died this weekend, according to The Chicago Tribune.

Hunter Himes, 15, of Downers Grove passed away Sunday. He was riding his bike on Feb. 26 last year when he was hit by a truck, according to The Tribune. He sustained a TBI and underwent many surgeries following the accident.

He came back home in a wheelchair during the summer, The Tribune reported. Hunter was paralyzed throughout most of his body, the newspaper said.

The truck driver involved in the accident, Timothy Hagan of Darien, this fall was convicted of a traffic violation and was ordered to perform 300 hours of community service, according to The Tribune.
