A website called Journalistsresource.org has put together a roundup of some of the key scientific research on concussions and sports, ranging  from football to soccer to youth players.

Although this curated portal is meant to point reporters to good sources of data on traumatic brain injuries, it would also be helpful to anyone trying to see what we know about concussions right now.

The introduction summarizes some of the findings about the long-term impact head injuries and concussions in sports, crediting reporter Alan Schwarz of The New York Times with pioneering media coverage of the issue. Then there is a list and synopsis of about a dozen studies or scholarly articles.

The research cited includes “Epidemiology of Concussions among United States High School Athletes in 20 Sports” to “Hockey Concussion: Is It Child Abuse?”

Enjoy.
