Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, recuperating from a virus, fainted and sustained a concussion, the state Department said Saturday.

“While suffering from a stomach virus, Secretary Clinton became dehydrated and fainted, sustaining a concussion,” the statement said.

“She has been recovering at home and will continue to be monitored regularly by her doctors,” the State Department said. “At their recommendation, she will continue to work from home next week, staying in regular contact with Department and other officials. She is looking forward to being back in the office soon.”

Clinton cancelled trips to North Africa and the Persian Gulf earlier this week because of her illness, according to the Associated Press. She  got the virus while on a trip to Europe, AP said.
