Mood issues are pervasive after a brain injury, but can also distract diagnosticians focus from the pathology of the injury to the non-organic explanations of what happened.  In properly assessing the mood issues after Angela’s injury, it is important to understand how dramatically changed her emotions are since the accident.  Before, she was an upbeat, never say die type of person.  Thus, her current mood challenges stem from her brain injury, not problems she had premorbid.
