The irony of Betty being in the wrong place at the wrong time, in a car with a friend, because of the friend’s brother being in a motorcycle accident. Betty suffered a severe brain injury with months of amnesia. The accident was the result of the girl being severely intoxicated, an intoxication which was probably in response to the motorcycle accident.  Betty was in a coma for five weeks and paralyzed for two months.  Her accident happened over Thanksgiving weekend, 1982.
